April 28, 2012 - School Beautification Day
A truly community effort!
Volunteers came from everywhere - students, families, staff, local high school students and community members! All working very hard to make our campus beautiful!
Thank you to: The Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council for purchasing our supplies (especially Cornelio and Daphne - who spent their own personal time to pick them up and deliver!); The Office of Councilman Tom LaBonge (especially Alice!) who arranged to underwrite a portion of the event and who got city crews to deliver free mulch and haul away trash; Togo's Sandwiches for donating the delicious lunch!; and Jarrito's Sodas for quenching our thirst!

Halloween Pizza and Bake Sale - October 31, 2011
After the annual school costume parade the PTA sold pizza, Halloween treats, popsicles, and ice cold drinks, which were much needed on a warm Southern California Halloween! And with every purchase they got a free safety glow band to make them more visible while trick or treating.
We had a great turnout and so many wonderful volunteers who worked hard and donated delicious treats. Thank you to everyone who helped!

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon - May 2011
The PTA hosted a lunch for our wonderful teachers and staff to show them how much we appreciate their continued hard work, even during the worst of our state budget messes! Amidst the constant threat of layoffs, they manage to help our kids strive for success in everything they do, from academics to art to drill team!
Thank you!
(And thank you to all the PTA members who donated food and paper goods, and helped to set up, staff and clean up after the event!)

Spring School Open House - April 12, 2011
Thank you to all the teachers, staff and volunteers who came out to set up for the event, and thank you to all the parents for coming and supporting your students!
The kids enjoyed showing off their work and showing their parents, grandparents and other relatives where they spend their days.
The Parent Center held a silent auction, the library had a Scholastic Book Fair, and the PTA sold Carl's Jr. meals and held a raffle for a tabletop foosball game.

California Dairy Council Visit - April 5, 2011
The Mobile Classroom from the California Dairy Council visited today to help our kids learn about milk production - with two very special guests - a full grown milk cow and a 3 week old calf!
Kindergarten through second grade classes learned the parts of a cow, how it eats and chews, and how long a dairy cow can produce milk (10 months, then it gets a 2 month vacation!).
The third through fifth graders also learned about milking machines and "ruminants" (animals that chew their cud, like cows, deer and goats).
The highlight, of course, was getting to pet the calf!

4th Annual Garden Party - March 5, 2011
Bringing together teachers, staff, students, parents, grandparents and community members, the Garden Party was a day to beautify the school and show our pride!
Volunteers weeded and harvested garden beds, raked leaves, spruced up playground planters, cleaned classrooms and enjoyed the beautiful weather together.
The PTA provided lunch and drinks when everyone's hard work was done.
Thank you to everyone who turned out to help or donated towards the food!
